The table top consists of a volcanic stone with hand-painted and a “burned-in” ceramic layer. Each table top is unique. The hand-painted classic Italian designs can also be personalized or the design of the table top can be designed by the client and is implemented accordingly in the factory. This creates a very personal one of a kind piece! The classic designs come from the Renaissance and have been developed over the centuries. In the meantime, there are also modern designs.
The production of the table begins with the careful selection of the stone, as not all pieces are equally suitable for the specific processing. The slabs of the volcanic rock are first cleaned of impurities. The stone is then heated to over 1000 degrees Celsius in an oven. A second firing process allows the brightest and most beautiful colors to be obtained. The table top is enamelled, painted by hand, crystallized and placed in the oven a second time.
Ceramic has been a tradition in Italy for a long time. The Italian ceramics trade also enjoys a high reputation internationally and has always been very popular. This artistic tradition dates back to the Etruscan period and reached its peak in the Renaissance. Fortunately, this craft, including professional hand painting, has made it into the industrial age to this day, where the art and craftsmanship behind products unfortunately often falls short.
The “Made in Italy” brand has been used since 1980 to show the international uniqueness of Italy in four traditional industries, also known as “Four As”: Abbigliamento (clothing), Agricoltura (food), Arredamento (furniture) and auto (cars.) Italian products are often associated with quality, high specialization, and elegance.
